Rokkaku-do(a hexagonal temple)
This is a name of Tendai sect temple located in Karasuma Higashi,Rokkaku-dori,Nakagyo Ward,Kyoto city. It is formally called Choho-ji Temple,and was formerly called Unrin-ji Temple. According to tradition, it was first built by Shohtoku the Prince Imperial, and dedicated to bodhisattva Kannon as the principal image. Rokkaku-do is famous as the place where G.Shinran shut himself up for 100 days.
